Welding & joining play an enormous role in determining the behavior of most manufactured products. Although joints represent a relatively small volume of material in most manufactured products, they often represent the weak link in the structure and offer the potential of damaging the overall performance of the system.
Welding processes of interest include gas tungsten arc (GTA), gas metal arc (GMA) in addition to friction welding, brazing and soldering.
