Failure Analysis
Failure Analysis requires broad-based engineering skills, fundamental materials knowledge, forensic experience, and scientific objectivity. With our integrated engineering and laboratory capabilities, we provide this unusually broad capability as well as the recognition that a quick response is often necessary. We are involved from initial on-site inspection, to analysis and lab testing, to litigation support, when needed.
Equipment Failure Analysis
Altran Solutions has provided a wide range of laboratory based failure analyses for both major and minor electrical equipment. These analyses are important to determine root cause and appropriate corrective action to avoid future problems. We have experience with both active and passive components including cables, transformers, connectors, insulators, bushing and potheads, breakers, switches, fire protection systems, hot line clamps, etc.

Condition and Degradation Assessments
Corrosion, wear, and deposits on structures and equipment can lead to accelerated aging, reduced reliability, and operational problems. Altran's materials engineers understand and evaluate the degradation of materials used in systems, structures, and components in a T&D infrastructure. The appropriate interpretation of materials investigations can provide valuable insight into aging and reliability.
Special Engineering Investigations
Investigations ranging from risk assessments to laboratory mock-ups to enhance station, system or component reliability. The diversity in our laboratory allows us to test the performance of exiting materials or products as well as help in the development of new solutions to old problems.
