Design codes impose requirements for seismic design of structures and components important to public safety. Seismic analysis maybe performed by equivalent static load methods, response spectra methods, Fourier transformation methods, or time history methods. It is important to accurately define the seismic load levels, damping coefficients, and the acceptance criteria. The criteria are typically specified by the governing code or specification and are dependent on the design seismic load level and the structure or system analyzed. Good criteria should be based on performance and functionality.

Altran engineers are experienced in establishing seismic analysis methods that meet code requirements and/or specific customer needs. We develop simulated time history motions and response spectra and perform the analysis in both the time domain and frequency domain. We also analyze structures to other non-seismic dynamic loads such as postulated accident loads applied to nuclear power reactor components.
