Life Cycle Management
Altran Solutions is a recognized nuclear industry leader in equipment life cycle management (LCM). The technical foundation lies in Altran's experience and credentials in aging management, failure analysis, and long-term maintenance optimization.
Altran has developed aging management guidelines for the Westinghouse Owners Group (WOG) as part of the WOG Life Cycle Management and License Renewal Program. Guidelines include an overall field guide for aging assessment by system engineers. Specific guides are developed for corrosion, structural monitoring, buried commodities, and cables. Related utility-specific products have been developed for several clients including Pacific Gas and Electric and Carolina Power and Light.
Altran's expertise in failure analysis and root cause evaluation is extensive. Experience includes both engineering analysis and laboratory assessments. Altran has staff experts in materials engineering (metals, polymers, and concrete); degradation mechanisms (corrosion, fatigue, FAC, and MIC); most plant components; and I&C systems. Altran provides these services to numerous clients including Wolf Creek Nuclear Operating Company, Entergy, Consolidated Edison, and Ingersoll-Rand.
Altran staff has years of experience in developing preventive maintenance, predictive maintenance, and condition monitoring programs to optimize plant cost and performance. Clients include EPRI, ComEd, Exelon, and Omaha Public Power District.
Related to PM optimization is Maintenance Rule monitoring and goal setting. Altran staff has assisted utilities in all aspects of Maintenance Rule implementation. Clients include Southern California Edison, Pacific Gas and Electric, Rochester Gas and Electric, and New York Power Authority.
Altran conducts training for client engineers in equipment aging, failure and root cause analysis, and PM optimization.
