Test Kits for Biological Fouling of Industrial Systems
Altran Solutions has developed the Altran Biofouling Control (ABC) Kit for fast, accurate, and economical detection and identification of biofouling and corrosive microorganisms.
The ABC Kit is a two-pound portable toolkit that plant personnel can use to obtain samples of suspected biofouling products such as corrosion products, scale, slime, and contaminated water. The sample specimens are then shipped directly to Altran Laboratories for analysis. The analysis is included in the price of the kit. Results are available within 3-14 days following sample receipt, depending on the individual analysis. Typically, total aerobic bacteria results are available within 72 hours; results for sulfate-reducing bacteria within 14 days.
Plant personnel can then make informed, timely decisions regarding systems operations, preventative maintenance actions, and biofouling treatment selection. The ABC Kits are economically priced, allowing plants to keep several on hand for use in cases of suspected biofouling or as part of a routine monitoring program.
